Description:

The Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) for Children and Armed Conflict is seeking an experienced Evaluation Consultant to conduct evaluations of various programs and initiatives aimed at addressing the impact of armed conflict on children. The consultant will play a critical role in assessing the effectiveness, efficiency, and impact of interventions and providing recommendations for improvement.

Responsibilities:

  1. Design and implement evaluation methodologies, including data collection tools, sampling strategies, and analysis frameworks.
  2. Conduct field visits and interviews with key stakeholders to gather qualitative and quantitative data on program implementation and outcomes.
  3. Analyze evaluation data and prepare comprehensive evaluation reports, including findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
  4. Present evaluation findings and recommendations to relevant stakeholders, including program managers, donors, and other partners.
  5. Collaborate with program teams to ensure that evaluation findings are incorporated into program planning and decision-making processes.
  6. Provide technical guidance and support to program staff on monitoring and evaluation best practices.
  7. Stay updated on emerging trends and best practices in monitoring and evaluation, particularly in the field of children and armed conflict.
  8. Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in a relevant field, such as international development, social sciences, or public policy.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in program evaluation, preferably in the field of children and armed conflict.
  • Demonstrated expertise in qualitative and quantitative research methods, data analysis, and report writing.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and draw actionable conclusions.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey evaluation findings to diverse audiences.
  • Experience working in conflict-affected or humanitarian settings is highly desirable.
  • Fluency in English is required; proficiency in other languages, especially French or Arabic, is an asset.
