Summary:

This position is situated in the Office of India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Maldives, and Bhutan Affairs (INSB) within the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs (SCA). The Secretary (OA) serves as the personal assistant to the office deputy director for INSB, providing comprehensive secretarial, clerical, and administrative support.

Duties:

  1. Prioritization and Adaptation: Determines day-to-day priorities, interpreting and adapting guidelines to resolve various situations based on policy knowledge.
  2. Document Review: Reviews incoming and outgoing materials, ensuring compliance with established policies.
  3. Office Liaison: Serves as the primary liaison for replenishing office supplies and securing technical assistance for equipment maintenance.
  4. Requisitions: Prepares and submits requisitions for office supplies, equipment, printing support, and related materials based on office requirements.
  5. Communication: Manages communication, scheduling, and contact with staff, agency members, and external entities, handling telephone calls and visitors.

Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.
  • Subject to random drug testing.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
  • Successful completion of E-Verify employment verification check.

Qualifications:

  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level, demonstrating experience in providing courteous and accurate information to guests, producing a variety of documents, managing schedules and workload of executive staff, and arranging schedules and travel arrangements.
  • Experience must be in or related to the work of this position.

  • Skill in coordinating the administrative work of an office.
