In a recent lawsuit filed in federal district court in Connecticut, former World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) employee Janel Grant has accused the company’s founder, Vince McMahon, and a former WWE executive of sex trafficking and abuse.

Grant alleges that she was subjected to physical and emotional abuse, sexual assault, and trafficking during her time at WWE. According to the lawsuit, McMahon and the executive, John Laurinaitis, played key roles in these alleged incidents.

The lawsuit claims that McMahon used promises of career advancement to manipulate Grant into a physical relationship. Grant felt trapped and feared negative consequences if she did not comply with McMahon’s demands.

Furthermore, the lawsuit alleges that McMahon shared sexually explicit content of Grant with others, both inside and outside the wrestling company. Grant also claims that McMahon and Laurinaitis sexually assaulted her in Laurinaitis’ office, while colleagues were present.

Grant asserts that others at WWE were aware of the situation but chose to conceal the wrongdoing. She alleges that she lost her job at the company after McMahon pressured her to sign a nondisclosure agreement to prevent her from speaking about the sexual misconduct.

The lawsuit seeks to void the nondisclosure agreement and seeks compensatory and punitive damages. Grant claims to have suffered physically and mentally as a result of the alleged abuse and predatory behavior.

WWE has responded, stating that McMahon will vigorously defend himself against the allegations. The company also acknowledges the seriousness of the accusations and is addressing the matter internally.

This lawsuit comes after McMahon’s previous involvement in a hush money payment scandal, where he reportedly paid nearly $15 million to four women over 16 years to silence claims of sexual misconduct. Despite stepping down as CEO, McMahon retained control over WWE as a majority shareholder.

The case highlights the ongoing issue of sexual misconduct in the entertainment industry and the importance of holding individuals and organizations accountable for their actions.
